Flexible Dentures
A more comfortable, aesthetic and easier to insert option than metal-based partial dentures, our flexible dentures are minimally invasive and ideal for patients with acrylic or metal allergies. Flexible dentures are contraindicated when vertical clearance is limited to 4.0mm, or when abutment teeth have minimal undercuts. Something to consider is that flexible partial dentures may stain, develop odour over time, and be difficult to adjust, without the option of adding additional teeth once the initial denture is fabricated.
Cast Framework
Metallic or cast frameworks are made from a selection of different alloys customised for your patients’ individual needs. The most popular is cobalt chrome, which has a high level of success for RPDs. Titanium frameworks are light, flexible and non-allergenic; however, they need more bulk for strength and don’t polish as well as chrome.
Metal, Tooth-Coloured or Clear Clasps
Besides metal options, we use the durable, aesthetic, metal-free acetal resin alternative to metal: Dental D Clasps DurAcetal™ (Myerson Tooth Company), and our clear option is the thermoplastic material: VisiClear™ (Myerson Tooth Company).
Metal clasps are usually wrought, and can be cast and made of gold.
Dental D tooth-coloured clasps are a durable, aesthetic and metal-free acetal resin alternative in an array of tooth and tissue colours, including nine shades for gingival areas (not in load-bearing situations).
VisiClear™ clear clasps are made from a thermoplastic material, which is 100% monomer and nylon free, as well as strong, flexible and stain-resistant. Comfortable and easy to reline or add to in future, the acetal resin clasps combined with a chrome-cobalt framework and conventional acrylic saddles adds to the aesthetics and strength.
